How Server Rankings Work

Our ranking algorithm considers multiple factors to surface the best servers. Here's everything you need to know.

Ranking Factors

When you sort by "Best", these factors determine where each server appears. Weights show how much each factor contributes to the final score.

Community Votes

20%

Total votes received from the community. We use smart scaling so smaller servers can still compete with larger ones.

Tip: Encourage your players to vote daily!

Server Uptime

15%

How reliable your server is. We check server status regularly and track uptime percentage over time.

Tip: Keep your server online and responsive.

Player Activity

15%

Average player count on your server. Active communities rank higher than empty servers.

Tip: Build an engaged community that plays regularly.

Freshness

15%

How It All Works Together

Understanding the ranking process helps you optimize your server's visibility.

2

Score Calculation

Every hour, we calculate a weighted score for each server using the factors above. Smart scaling ensures fair competition between servers of all sizes.

3

Ranking Display

Frequently Asked Questions

Got questions? We've got answers.

How often are rankings updated?
Rankings are recalculated every hour to ensure the "Best" list always reflects current server performance. This means improvements you make will be reflected relatively quickly.
Why isn't my server ranked higher?
Rankings consider multiple factors, not just votes. Make sure your server has good uptime, an active player base, positive reviews, and a complete profile. Check each factor above and see where you can improve.
What are sponsored servers?
Sponsored servers are premium placements that appear at the top of listings. Server owners can bid for these spots monthly. Sponsored servers are clearly labeled and don't affect the organic rankings of other servers.
How does the voting system work?
Players can vote for a server once every 24 hours. Votes contribute to both your total vote count and your "freshness" score. Recent votes matter more than old ones for ranking purposes.
What is the "bump" feature?
Server owners can "bump" their server once every 24 hours. Bumping gives your server a temporary boost in the freshness score, helping it appear higher in rankings. It's a great way to get extra visibility.
Do reviews affect my ranking?
Yes! Both your average star rating and the number of reviews you have contribute to your ranking. Servers with more positive reviews rank higher. Encourage satisfied players to leave reviews.
What happens if my server goes offline?
Temporary downtime is normal and won't severely impact your ranking. However, extended offline periods will lower your uptime percentage, which affects your ranking score. Try to minimize downtime.
How can I improve my profile quality score?
Add a detailed description (50+ characters), short description, server banner, logo, YouTube video, website URL, Discord link, select relevant categories, and add FAQs. Each element adds to your completeness score.
Is the ranking algorithm fair?
We designed the algorithm to give all servers a fair chance. Vote counts use logarithmic scaling so a server with 1000 votes doesn't completely overshadow one with 100. New servers get a temporary boost. Multiple factors prevent any single metric from dominating.
Can I see my exact ranking score?
Server owners can see detailed analytics in their dashboard. The exact formula weights are transparent (shown above), but the specific numerical score is used internally for ordering.
